The Tunbridge Wells wedding and events photographer shares her favourite outfit, which needs to be practical as well as stylish to suit her active life

Tell us a bit about you

I’ve been working as a wedding and
events photographer for 12 years now
and absolutely love it. Through shooting weddings I’ve discovered some wonderful areas and venues in Kent that I never knew existed. I’m lucky to have some amazing backdrops for my wedding couples such
as Leeds and Hever Castles and Penshurst Place, where I shoot on a regular basis.

Not all weddings I shoot are at such grand locations; they can be in a registry office or a marquee in the garden at home. Smaller weddings can be very special as they are so intimate to shoot and you get
to know the couple and family so well.

My event photography gives me an opportunity to travel as I cover a lot of international sporting fixtures, such as
the Hong Kong and Dubai Rugby 7’s and the Six Nations rugby. I’ve always loved
to travel so feel very privileged that I am able to combine work with my passion
for adventure and seeing the world.

It’s sometimes a struggle juggling work with personal life as I have an 11-year-old son, a mother who has lived with MS for
37 years and a characterful mutt, who
all vie for my attention when I’m home.

What are you wearing?

I was always a bit of a tomboy growing up so you’d rarely see me in a dress or skirt; I’m pretty much the same now. What I’m wearing has to be practical as I’m running around so much with work and life.

I generally shop on the High Street but also look for the odd garment from vintage and charity shops. The jacket and top I’m wearing were from Love Is Boutique that’s unfortunately closed down now, but Paula Fry the owner still keeps in with her passion for fashion by writing for the Kent Life fashion pages.

My trousers and boots are from Oasis, I love the neutral colours. My gorgeous earrings are from a fantastic new local jewellery designer Julia Stockwell-Hamid (JSH Designs UK) from her collection based on the movement of water.

If I’m looking for something special to wear I’ll head down to the High Street in Tunbridge Wells as there are so many great independent boutiques. A favourite is Kitch, where you’ll always find something that won’t be seen anywhere else.

Why do you love where you live?

I love living in Tunbridge Wells as it’s surrounded by beautiful countryside but
it also has its own lovely parks. I love Dunorlan Park so much that I decided to join the committee for The Friends of Dunorlan Park, we’re very fortunate to have such a lovely park so central to Tunbridge Wells and the café there does the best, most reasonable fry up in town!

Tunbridge Wells has many fantastic restaurants, bars and cafés; one of my favourites is Souper Juice in Monson Road as they not only serve great food but now make delicious, healthy cocktails at night.

We are so lucky to have the Pantiles and summer can’t come quick enough for me as the weekly jazz sessions there are fantastic; they bring the whole town together.

Entertainment wise I love Trinity Theatre for their wide selection of shows and The Grey Lady and the Forum are fantastic music venues. You could find something
to entertain you every night in Tunbridge Wells, but if not we’re only a short hop
up to London or down to the coast.

Although I love to travel for my work it’s always great coming back home and home to me will always be Tunbridge Wells. n
