Dr Sophie Shotter from Maidstone shares her favourite outfit

Tell us a bit about you

My name is Sophie Shotter and I’m a doctor running a business called Illuminate Skin Clinics. I’m a bit of a gym addict, and am hoping to train for triathlons next year. I also love fashion, cooking and baking, reading and playing the piano. I really want to take up tennis – I love watching Wimbledon, but would love to be able to play as well.

What are you wearing?

I always hated wearing jeans because
I never liked the way they fitted me, until I discovered the ones I’m wearing. They’re by an Australian brand called Nobody (stocked at Bod & Ted in Tunbridge Wells) and are just a little higher-waisted than most jeans, so
give a nicer silhouette. I own them in about five different colours – my favourite are the Cult Skinnies, but
they come in different styles.

My blouse is from Whistles and I
feel amazing every time I put it on; the colour lifts me and I always feel like my skin looks healthier and more glowing when I’m wearing it. It’s also the softest silk. I have it in an off-white as well.

My jacket is by Rebecca Minkoff and again is a really lovely soft silk to wear.
A white jacket is a summer staple for
me – how often is it warm enough to
go around in short sleeves? It’s a really
nice way of layering that’s a bit more structured than a cardigan.

I’m also wearing a gorgeous bracelet from Buba, it’s a leather cuff with beadwork on top. Unusual but really striking – I get so many comments on it. My bag is from Russell & Bromley and adds another pop of colour. I love red.

Where do you live?

I live in Maidstone, having moved back here about
six years ago. Kent offers

such variety – beautiful countryside, great culture, fantastic places to eat out,
and so many warm-hearted people. I love living here!
Oh, and did I mention some pretty amazing shopping too?

Where do you like to shop?

My favourite place to shop is Tunbridge Wells High Street, it’s full of independent shops where the service is second to none.

The owners really get to know you
and your style, give advice and make some great recommendations.

A lot of people think shopping in independent boutiques is more expensive, but I would challenge that – it’s no more expensive than shopping in the more expensive high street names. My personal favourites are
Bod & Ted, Kitch Clothing and
Ilse Jacobsen. n
