With spring in the air, now's the time to give your beauty routine a spring clean
Ever wished your hair could be shiner, softer, thicker or fuller?
Better hair isn’t just a matter of a good haircut or great shampoo, it’s also about using the right tools. Here are some of my favourite ultimate style helpers.
The Power Hair dryer
The Porsche of hairdryers, Parlux 3200 Compact looks sleek and professional and is super lightweight and powerful, from £69.95
The Styling brush: Mason & Pearson B4 Brush is an all rounder, kind and gentle to the hair. The brush bristle is of the highest quality, from £39
The Root Lifter: Unite Elevate Styling, from £17.50, increases the hair’s diameter by up to 40 per cent without any stickiness.
The Blow Dry Partner: 12-1 Muti-Action Spray, from £19.95.
An all single action formula designed to provide four separate levels of vital benefits to the hair, appearance, treatment, heat protection and texture.
Protects hair colour and contains UVA and UVB sun filters.
The Gadget Cloud 9 is the ultimate tool, it gives a more modern and longer-lasting finish, from £99.
The Styling Finishing Oil: Kerastase Elixir Ultime from £35.50, is a versatile beautifying oil enriched with a complex of precious oils to leave the hair soft, supple and infinitely shiny.
Chances are, the older you get, the more blemishes there seem to be, but still we seek flawless-looking skin.
Industry statics show that at least 50 per cent of us don’t like wearing foundation and that’s no surprise, as it does have a bad reputation. However, if you want to look bare- face natural, chances are that you still need to even out your skin tone.
Always prep your skin with moisturiser, you can’t expect any foundation to look good on skin that hasn’t been conditioned beforehand.
Then focus primer on the areas of the face most prone to movement, the centre of the forehead, between the brows and the lines down the sides of the nose down to the mouth.
Apply Silk Serum, £26, before your foundation to make it appear sheer and wearable.
Try Guinot Perfecting Foundation, £45, it protects the skin with super-lasting results.
Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly Satin 24-hour, £29, also truly stays put.
Powder perfect: used to set the finishing touches to your skin to make it last all day, it’s easy to use and adaptable for your skin tone. Try Naturel Minerals make-up, from £29.
Add health: put a bit of colour back into your cheeks. A perfect pink has a touch of raspberry for that cold-weather blood rush to your cheeks, Max Factor crème Puff Blush in Gorgeous Berries, £8.99.
Definition of eyes and eyebrows: lash and brow tints applied in a professional salon from £14.95 (skin test applicable) will immediately open up your eyes and create feature, add one coat of your favourite mascara for a more dramatic effect.
Estee Lauder Mascara £24 and Sisley So Intense Mascara £39
Eyebrows with sparse hair can now achieve perfect brow shape with definition through Semi Permanent make-up (lasts up to five years), complimentary consultation and prices from £295.00
Hands: I highly recommend a professional manicure (from £26) to remove winter-dry cuticles, dry skin and dehydrated nails.
Nail polish: Spring is the season for wearing nude nails. Soft, flattering colours suit all skin types also pale colours make your hands and nails look so much longer and more elegant.
Shellac Gel polishes are the super-intelligent polishes that last up to 14 days, instantly dry without smudging or chips and very hard wearing, from £25.
Finally, always apply daily hand cream with SPF protection to prevent ageing pigmentation, as your hands are always the age giveaway.
Indulge this Easter without a calorie in sight

1. You’ll be aware of their amazing chocolate but did you know Hotel Chocolat also has a beauty range? Smooth skin with their Revive Body Polish (£7.50) containing cocoa shell, cocoa butter and sugar, bathe in their gorgeously scented Bois Nef Nourishing Bath Oil with cocoa and coconut (£25) and spritz on Quilesse Eau De Parfum, £45. Other products include a body cream and treatment candle.

2. Cleopatra eat your heart out, fresh cream sounds far more luxurious than asses’ milk! Philosophy’s new Fresh Cream Eau de Toilette (£34 for 60ml) and matching shower gel, (£19.50 for 450ml), launched just last month and is inspired by whipped cream and vanilla. If that doesn’t take your fancy, Philosophy’s other sweet beauty treats include Coconut Frosting and Cinnamon Buns shower gels. Available in John Lewis and Debenhams stores and at www.philosophy.co.uk
3. For anyone who would happily plaster themselves in chocolate, I can’t recommend MuLondon’s Organic White Chocolate Truffle Moisturiser (£15) highly enough. It contains vanilla essence, cocoa extract and shea butter and smells exactly like a quality bar of white chocolate. A good option as a night cream, the solid texture melts easily into the skin and leaves you feeling you’ve indulged in something really naughty. The company also produces a White Chocolate Elbow, Knee and Heel cream if you fancy taking it further, www.mulondon.com
