Shakespeares Globe is taking to the road again this Summer with two productions - Shakespeares intellectual masterpiece Hamlet and the much-loved comedy As You Like It. Both productions are touring to Kent, with Hamlet performing at Groombridge Place Gardens between 24 26 May, and As You Like It performing at The Festival Theatre at Hever Castle from 10 13 August.

Hamlet is directed by the Globes artistic director Dominic Dromgoole with rising star Joshua McGuire in the title role. Joshua appeared in Posh at the Royal Court in 2010, and co-starred in the new BBC series The Hour with Ben Whishaw and Dominic West. Dominic has directed Shakespeares Henry IV Parts 1 and 2 (2010), Loves Labours Lost (2007 and 2009), Romeo and Juliet (2009) and King Lear (2008) for Shakespeares Globe. He was Artistic Director of the Oxford Stage Company, 1999-2005, and the Bush Theatre, 1990-96, and Director of New Plays for the Peter Hall Company in 1996/7.

James Dacre director of the 2010 Olivier Award winning production The Mountaintop and Precious Little Talent, currently showing in the West End directs Shakespeares delightful comedy As You Like It with Jo Herbert (The Game of Love and Chance, Cyrano de Bergerac) and Gunnar Cauthery (A View From The Bridge, The White Guard) playing the lovers Rosalind and Orlando. As You Like It runs the glorious gamut of pastoral romance: cross-dressing and love-notes; poetry and brilliant conversation; gentle satire, slapstick and passion.

Using an Elizabethan style booth stage inspired by paintings and etchings from Shakespeares time, when touring was prevalent two troupes of eight actors will visit beautiful and inspiring settings across the UK and Europe with these scaled-down productions. Tour destinations include Bodleian Library Quadrangle in Oxford, The Minack in Cornwall, the Argotti Gardens in Malta, Elsinore Castle in Denmark, and, of course, Groombridge Place Gardens and Hever Castle.

Dominic Dromgoole, Artistic Director of Shakespeares Globe, commented; Now in our fifth year of touring, we have developed an enthusiastic audience around Britain and Europe, who demonstrate a clear appetite for quality Shakespeare on tour. This year, we present two brand new productions and look forward to visiting a number of our regular touring venues, as well as some new additions.

Shakespeares Globe continues its long term partnership with Ford, who will provide the transport for these tours.
