Riverhill Himalayan Gardens welcomes its first Poet in Residence

Kent-based poet Abegail Morley's Poetry Residence will begin with a Haiku Challenge on 21 March 2015, coinciding with World Poetry Day - find out how you can join in

This month Riverhill is welcoming its first Post in Residence, Abegail Morley, a Kent-based poet who has been published internationally. Abegail will be taking inspiration from the people, events, and nature of the Gardens, bringing a fresh dimension of enjoyment to everyone who visits and loves Riverhill.

Abegail’s Poetry Residence will begin with a Haiku Challenge on 21st March 2015, coinciding with World Poetry Day. Then throughout the year Abegail will be a regular visitor to Riverhill, absorbing the atmosphere and watching how the gardens & its visitors change with the seasons. Her monthly poems will be published on the Riverhill website, Facebook page and Twitter feed, for everyone to enjoy.

“We’re thrilled Abegail is joining us at Riverhill,” says owner Sarah Rogers, “as we continue our tradition of welcoming artists to take inspiration from and create art at Riverhill. Last year’s sculpture symposium was such a success, as everyone can see from the wonderful sculptures still on display here, and we’re so excited that 2015 will be recorded in poetry”

As prolific as she is, Abegail is delighted to add a residency at Riverhill to her extensive profile. She comments “Riverhill is such a beautiful place, which is enjoyed by so many people, it will be a privilege to bring poetry to visitors.”
