The Regimental Association of the Queens Own Buffs held its annual reunion in Canterbury. Led by the Band of the Princess of Waless Royal Regiment, veterans from branches throughout Kent marched down Burgate to the Cathedral for a Service of Remembrance.


Afterwards President of the Association, Col Crispin Champion the Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Cllr Ian Thomas and the Dean of Canterbury Cathedral, Dr Robert Willis took the salute outside the Cathedral. 2011 marked the 50th Anniversary of the amalgamation of The Buffs Royal East Kent Regiment and The Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment to formThe Queens Own Buffs.


Members of the enactment society, the Queens Own Royal West Kent Living History Group, brought back memories of the uniforms worn and weapons used in the Malayan Campaign, and the Swingtime Sweethearts performed songs from the 1940s. Presentations of Meritorious Service Certificates were also made to two members from Canterbury.
