The Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, invited guests from across Kent to join him at a reception in the grounds Lambeth Palace in support of Canterbury Cathedral.

Commenting that Kent must be very empty tonight, because everyone who matters is here, His Grace reminded us that the fundraising campaign launched in 2006 to raise 50m for essential repairs, conservation and development work at the cathedral had reached more than 10m. The Development Campaign Committee was extending its efforts nationally and internationally, but more than ever, we need the strong and continuing support of people like you to join us and support The Canterbury Gift ( This place belongs to us all ... please stand with us in helping to conserve this unique, divine creation, he said.

If you were at theArchbishops Lambeth Palace reception then we would appreciate it if you would add your photos of the event to this page.
