Tunbridge Wells Hotel du Vin was the setting for the first Mistletoe Lunch, a series of fundraising meals and events in aid of Cancer Research UKs breast cancer programmes. It attracted 84 ladies from across Kent and Sussex and a combination of excellent food, drink and guest speakers, plus an auction and raffle, helped raise 8,000. Mistletoe events are the brainchild of Sandra Owen, Jayne Torvill, OBE, Chris Mitchell and Angela Roney, all of whose lives have been touched by cancer. During the reception and meal, guests took part in fundraising activities, including a Tree of Life, a 20 note raffle and an auction, hosted by Cheryl Baker, who teased more than 3,000 from the attendees. Guests speakers were GMTVs Dr Hilary Jones and Gloria Hunniford.
