Voluntary and community groups and charitable organisations from all over the county have been recognised for their contribution to and investment in the people of Kent. Certificates of merit were presented at a reception in Headcorn to representatives of groups that have received funding via Kent Community Foundation. KCF raises funds from philanthropic individuals and organisations and has distributed almost 13m to more than 4,000 projects since its formation eight years ago. Peter Hardy, chairman, told award winners: This event is about recognising your achievements and acknowledging your inspiring contributions to your community. You have truly made a difference in the lives of others and for that we thank you, and the fund-holders for their generous philanthropy.
