The Vice Lord Lieutenant and Lady De L'Isle hosted a reception and dinner at Penshurst Place for the Kent Committee of The Army Benevolent Fund to raise funds for casualties from Afghanistan.

The Band of The Grenadier Guards entertained guests during a Champagne reception and after dinner in the Baron's Hall, Major Nick Calder MC talked of his experiences as a Company Commander in Helmand Province. The event raised 8,000 and Colonel Peter Cook, Chairman of The ABF in Kent, said the money would go towards the 120,000 required to assist soldiers in need in Kent in 2009.
