Christmas events in Kent: Festive things to do this year

From festive trails to Christmassy afternoon tea, there are lots of fabulous festive events in Kent this year to get you in the Christmas spirit

Christmas at Leeds Castle - Until January 3

Alternative trees will be brought out of the castle to decorate the grounds to create a wonderfully festive display right through into 2021.

Christmas at Hever Castle - Until December 24

Travel into the world of Peter Pan this Christmas as captivating displays around the castle and the garden recreate the magical atmosphere of Neverland.

Adult ticket prices start from £16.

Christmas Worship at Canterbury Cathedral - Throughout December

During the whole festive period you will be able to spend time in this stunning location to take part in the traditional Christmas celebrations.

Christmas Adventure Quest at Dover Castle - December 26 - January 3

Hunt for QR codes and clues in the castle grounds to discover the history of the castle and those who lived there. Alternatively, you could enjoy a hot chocolate or a mulled wine on a nice long walk.

Entry to the event is included in your standard admission.

Christmas at Salomons Estate - Various dates

With freshly made scones, traditional cakes and home-made sandwiches, festive afternoon tea is a delight at Salomons Estate. There is also a chance to meet Santa and various other festive-themed activities.

Winter Woodland Tour at Wildwood - Weekends from December 5 - January 3

Join a member of the Wildwood team on a tour of the area as they reveal the Christmas secrets hiding around every corner. 

Tickets are £20 for a two-hour tour.

Christmas at Rochester Cathedral - Throughout December 

Similarly to Canterbury Cathedral, there will be the usual selection of Christmas celebrations taking place that you can enjoy on site or from the comfort of home.

Betteshanger Park Drive-in Cinema - Various dates

Watch festive classics like The Grinch, Home Alone, Love Actually, Elf, The Polar Express and more in the surrounds of this magnificent location.

There is also a Christmas Trail on December 5 and 6.

Santa Specials with Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway - Selected dates from December 5 - 24

The carriages of this vintage railway attraction will be appropriately decked out for a festive journey through the wonderful Kent countryside.

Biddenden Vineyard Festive Shop - Until December 24

Visit the vineyard's special Christmas shop to stock up on a variety of food and drink that'll keep you and the family well fed throughout the whole season.

It's open from 10am to 5pm.

Christmas at Groombridge Place - December 16 - 24

Browse the gardens to discover the wishing tree and admire how the area has been transformed for the festive season. You can also meet Santa on his sleigh.

A ticket for a group of four is £25.

Festive Food at Hythe Imperial - From December 2

Whether it be for lunch or dinner this hotel in Hythe will deliver a delicious meal that'll put you right into the festive spirit. They are also running a festive afternoon tea.

Ramsgate Illuminations - Until December 31

This coastal location has undergone its annual festive makeover, creating a Christmassy atmosphere everywhere you go throughout December.

Various spots around town are taking part.

Santa's Grotto at The Alexander Centre - December 19 - 20 

Take a walk through their winter wonderland before nipping into the grotto to meet Saint Nick himself. Every child will receive a gift.

Tickets are £7.50 per child.

Christmas at Bedgebury Pinetum - December 4 - January 10

The after-dark sparkling trail is illuminated, including the Tunnel of Light, and a one-mile path which winds magically through the Pinetum. Can you spot Santa and his elves along the way?

Early booking is advised as last year's event sold out very quickly.
