Hundreds of members of the public joined the children, staff, patrons and supporters of Ashford childrens charity, The Caldecott Foundation, as they celebrated their centenary with a moving Service of Thanksgiving at Canterbury Cathedral.

The charitys patron, The Archbishop of Canterbury, led the ceremony, which included hymns sung by Kings School Chamber Choir and Caldecott Choir, readings from Caldecott residents both past and present anda candle-lighting ceremony.

A particular highlight of the service was a moving poem written and read by Zinzi, 15, a Caldecott resident and pupil; Rowan Williams referred back to Zinzis words in his address.

The collection raised more than 3,000 towards the Centenary Appeal.
