Anifest Brings Harry Potter, Coraline, Creature Comforts and Phill Jupitus to Canterbury!

Dates: Friday 30th September 2nd October Venue: Augustines House, Canterbury Christ Church University

This year, Canterbury Anifest is playing host to some of the biggest names in animation, bringing some of the hottest talent to the South East. With representatives from the phenomenal Harry Potter films, the BAFTA nominated Coraline, the Oscar winning Creature Comforts, and a fantastic evening of comedy with Phill Jupitus, Canterbury Anifest 2011 is going to be the best one yet.

Following the success of last years event, Animate & Create Studios have again been contracted by Canterbury City Council to produce and deliver the festival. Animate & Create are passionate in their approach to working with young people and communities, giving them a voice and a means of expression through the creative media of animation. Festival Director, Dan Richards, is thrilled with how this year is shaping up:

Im proud to announce the biggest Anifest on record. Three days of inspiring animation; with top animation studios from the UK and the US. Last years attendances were the highest weve had, and this years numbers are already on track to race ahead. Canterbury Anifest is a festival for all ages; featuring free workshops for children, masterclasses for students and animators and screenings for all the family. Its a weekend of fun, packed full of big names and events.

Anifest will once again be hosted in Canterbury Christ Church Universitys Augustine House, a modern, stylish building and a great venue for a festival celebrating creativity and innovation. Now in its fifth year, the festival has been extended to run over three days, allowing for even more variety in events, workshops and competitions. It promises to be an exciting weekend, a window into the ever"expanding industry that is animation.

15:30 LAIKA: Coraline, Creative Marketing Talk

Come along and hear about the innovative and revolutionary marketing methods behind Coralines release; easily applicable to your own marketing strategies.

Saturday 1st October

10:30 Creature Comforts Hear from Aardmans Head Modelmaker and meet the characters.

12:00 Animating the Dragon Find out how the dragon was created for the latest Harry Potter film.

15:00 Coraline Screening Watch the hit animation feature film before hearing from the creators.

16:45 Coraline Production Talk A behind"the"scenes talk by three members of the production team.

20:00 Phill Jupitus An evening of Phill screening his favourite animations with laughs thrown in!

Sunday 2nd October

11:00 Disability Within Animation A screening of animations about disability with a discussion and Q&A.

12:30 " Future of Motion Capture Motion capture, live before your eyes! On stage green screen performance.

14:30 Home Grown Talent 2011 Animations made by young people from Canterbury schools.

15:30 Best International Films A chance to watch variety of animated short films from around the world.

16:45 Best British Films A screening of animated work by the UKs top animation talent.
