2. Cushion the blow

If you’re looking for some interiors inspiration or fancy giving a piece of wooden furniture a new lease of life, check out the Annie Sloan Workshops run by Kiss Kiss Heart in Rochester (01634 813349, www.kisskissheart.com).

Choose from an introductory workshop which covers three basic painting techniques, the ‘Take a seat’ day which includes painting and reupholstering a chair (provided) or a ‘Paint Your Own Furniture’ workshop. Workshops cost from £65 with refreshments and materials included and there are a range of dates in February, although space is limited. A 10% discount on any Annie Sloan products bought on the day is also offered to attendees.

4. House proud

Those with a creative leaning should check out Wild & Wolf’s new Makery range which includes a kit to make your own lampshade, one to make decorative flying ducks and the sweet little Haberdashery House shown here.
