YLF has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Volunteering for their services to every custody suite of Kent Police, where an appropriate adult is required to protect the interests of the young and vulnerable in Kent

The sunny terrace at Eastwell Manor provided the perfect setting for the Young Lives Foundation reception to celebrate receiving the Queen’s Award for Volunteering for their services to every custody suite of Kent Police, where an appropriate adult is required to protect the interests of the young and vulnerable in Kent. Viscount De L’isle, Lord Lieutenant of Kent, presented the award which was received on behalf of YLF by the two longest-serving appropriate adults, Mike Lowrey and Janet Judges, who have volunteered for more than 20 years. They were accompanied by ceo of the charity, Stephen Gray. Kate Lampard, DL, delivered the citation on behalf of the Lord Lieutenant following an address by the Chairman of Trustees, Geoffrey Dearing. Stephen Gray thanked the appropriate adults, not only for the 10,000 hours of voluntary service they give each year, but for the comfort and guidance they give often scared and sometimes violent prisoners in the custody suites across the county. Clive Emson, President of YLF, thanked the Lord Lieutenant, the volunteers’ partners and sponsors of the evening, Magee Gammon and Eastwell Manor. w
