Turner Contemporary held its fourth Turner Lecture and Dinner on what would have been artist JMW Turner's 240th birthday

On 23 April, on what would have been artist JMW Turner’s 240th birthday, Turner Contemporary held its fourth Turner Lecture and Dinner. The gallery’s major annual fundraising event hosted more than 100 guests and began with a drinks reception accompanied by classical harp quartet 4Girls4Harps. The reception was followed by a lecture given by writer and broadcaster Jeanette Winterson on The Selfie or the Self? Image and Identity in Life and Art. A three-course dinner was then served in the gallery’s Foyle Rooms at sunset. The evening concluded with a fundraising raffle, with prizes donated by the Art Fund, GB Pizza, the Marlowe Theatre, Quex Park and Margate’s Theatre Royal, plus support from the KM Group. Next year’s Turner Lecture and Dinner will take place on 21 April 2016, contact support@turnercontemporary.org for details.
