What would we do without our purrfect partners? Meet Cid, Molly, Lily and Mr Bond and find out why they are the best pets ever

Manu and Mr Bond

Tell us a bit about you

My name is Manu Palomeque and I’m a photographer and filmmaker based in Maidstone.

Tell us about your pet

He is a ginger tom called Mr Bond and he is coming up for three years old in the summer.

What makes your pet special?

Mr Bond was a surprise 50th birthday present from my wife. It happened that the James Bond films were also celebrating their 50th anniversary, hence the name he ended up with.

Putting his ‘murderous’ tendencies behind him, Mr Bond does have a wonderfully friendly nature and is a constant source of amusement and irritation to his dog-brother.

Sandra, Mick and Molly

Tell us a bit about you

We are Sandra and Mick Ball and we re-located from a small town called Leek in Staffordshire to Pegwell in 2009.

Tell us about your pet

Molly our Manchester terrier is six years old, she is intelligent and playful and will spend hours playing with a ball in the garden and chasing the birds. She is always alert and misses nothing, she’s affectionate and loves cuddling up under her blanket on the sofa and getting in bed at any opportunity.

Every household should have a Manchester terrier, it’s a wonderful experience.

Katie and Cid

Tell us a bit about you

My name is Katie Smith-Palomeque and I’m the ceo for a charity based in Dartford called Invicta Advocacy Network.

Tell us about your pet

His name is Cid and he’s a bit of a terrier - not sure which bits - and he’s about 12 years old.

What makes your pet special?

We got Cid from a visit to those wonderful people at Battersea Dogs Home in Brands Hatch. Although he does have his odd moments - fear of the ironing board and an obsession for food - I could not be without him.

He immediately became part of the family and although he’s now become a little grumpy with some other dogs on walks, he is a wonderful reason to get out and enjoy the Kent countryside.

Sophie and Lily

Tell us a bit about you

My name is Sophie Shotter, I live in Maidstone and I run my own cosmetic medicine clinic in Kings Hill

Tell us about your pet

Lily is eight years old and I’ve had her since she was seven weeks. She’s a domestic longhaired cat, but I think she may have some pedigree somewhere along the line. She has very long, soft fur

What makes your pet special?

Lily makes my home welcoming when I get back – she loves a cuddle and some fuss. When I need looking after she can tell and is so sweet and gentle. I also love her spotty paws and ears. She’s beautiful!
