Wandering through a festive market with mulled wine in hand is one of the pleasures of the season, so we have picked some of Kent's best Christmas markets to do just that

- Rochester Christmas Market

Fri-Sun 30 Nov-15 Dec. Rides are £1, activities are half price

What could be more festive than a Christmas market in the grounds of the historic Rochester Castle? With a cup of mulled wine in hand, be greeted by the scent of roasting chestnuts as you wander around the Bavarian food village and stalls selling high quality gifts and maybe sampling some Christmas treats from local producers.

There will be a traditional fun fair too. Check the website for opening times as they vary throughout the season.

- Rochester Dickensian Christmas

Visitors to Rochester will feel like they've stepped back in time this Christmas at the Dickensian Christmas fair taking place at Rochester Castle during the Christmas Market.

In celebration of Charles Dickens' time spent in Medway (1817 - 1822), this event will see lantern parades, traditional carol singing and plenty of dressed up characters from the writer's ever popular tales. Expect to see the likes of Ebenezer Scrooge, Miss Havisham and Tiny Tim.
