Kentish Ashmore Farmhouse is officially one of the 50 best cheeses in the world
Cheesemakers of Canterburys Ashmore Farmhouse has been rated one of the 50 best cheeses in the world.
The award came in the World Cheese Awards 2011, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, and was announced at the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham.
The five-month old cheddar, made at Dargate near Faversham, was one of nine UK cheeses to make it into the judges list of the worlds top 50. More than 2,500 cheeses were reduced to a shortlist by 200 international judges, before a final tasting by a panel.
The cheese, has already won awards the British Cheese Awards, and was awarded the 2009 Kentish Product of the Year in Produced in Kents Taste of Kent Awards.
