Bright Young Thing: Alfie Davis from Herne Bay

Remember his name Alfie Davis from Herne Bay is only nine but hes already been on TV in the recent Camelot series and is filming Edwin Drood for the BBC this Christmas

Tell us about yourself
Im Alfie James Lewis Davis, aged nine, and I live in Herne Bay with my Mum, Dad and my two older brothers Robert and Jack, who are 22 and 18, plus my black and white fluffy kitten Monty. I go to Hope View School in Chilham.

What are you doing now?
I am filming a BBC production called Edwin Drood that will be shown around Christmas time this year. Some of the filming is in Rochester, which is very convenient for me, but they send a driver for me, which is quite special really.
I recently was in a Channel 4 series
called Camelot, which was good fun. I played a character called Redwald. I
have just been for another audition for a commercial advertising bread. I did another commercial for Seat, the car company, but it didnt get shown.

Your future ambitions?
I want to carry on going to auditions and continue my training at Kent Youth Theatre so I can get more parts in films, television and commercials. I really want to be a successful actor and learn more about directing and making my own films and even writing and directing
my own shows for the stage. I think I might like to write a novel too.

Whats best about Kent?
I like living in Kent because thats where I go to drama school. I love Kent Youth Theatre on Saturdays at Kent College, Canterbury. We have so much fun.
I havent seen all of Kent but living by the seaside is great; we seem to get so much sun in Herne Bay, its nice. I know my mum likes shopping in Canterbury. Dad doesnt.

What are your hobbies and interests?
Well they are all about show business really. I love my acting and writing plays. And I read a lot too. I use my laptop for just about everything especially my writing and watching all my DVDs. I have box sets and collections of my favourite films and
TV series, which are: Only Fools and Horses, Carry On films, Doctor Who and James Bond. I have a good memory
and know all the characters, their lines, the stories and the order in which
they were made.

What was the last book you read?
I love reading and apart from the scripts that I have to read I am still reading and learning my role as Deputy in Edwin Drood the last book I read was Doctor Who: Touched by an Angel.

 • What a faff to register just so that I can write something nice!

I've seen Alfie's performances in both recent TV shows and he is destined for great things if he continues to enjoy acting into adult life. In the mean time someone should snap him up to play a young Sir John Mills should any film be made of his life. Alfie is a natural on screen and bears a resemblance to Sir John. This article is very informative. Maybe there should be a "supporters' club" for Alfie Davis - I shall certainly be watching out for whatever he appears in next and think I'll have the smug satisfaction of being able to say: "See I told you he was going to be a big star!".
