Restoration gardener honoured

Steve Edney, head gardener at the Salutation Gardens at Sandwich has been honoured by his old college for his project involving restoration of what are believed to be gardens created by Sir Edwyn Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll. In a ceremony at Hadlow College, Steve was presented with a Certificate of Achievement by the principal, Paul Hannan.

Owners Dominic and Stephanie Parker appointed Steve as head gardener in 2004 with the task of restoring the gardens. Steve was later joined by Richard Burrin, another ex-Hadlow student who was appointed under-gardener, and in turn they have been joined by Jane Gearty and Barry Meakins who are work-based learning students with the college.
