During December, a festive afternoon tea is a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping so we picked 9 spots that offer a seasonal afternoon tea in Kent

Where: Hempstead House, Bapchild, Sittingbourne

When: throughout December

Menu: four finger sandwiches with cream cheese and cucumber, ham and mustard, turkey and cranberry and smoked salmon. Homemade fruit and plain scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserve. Mince pie and selection of cakes. Unlimited tea and filter coffee available.

When: throughout December

Menu: finger sandwiches of cheese and onion, turkey, brie and cranberry, crab and avocado with lemon mayonnaise. Savoury bites include a mini croissant of ham, spinach and emmental and vegetable quiche. Scones with cream and jam, mince pies, raspberry cheesecake, apple pie, pecan nut brownie, carrot cake, banoffee pie and strawberry and cranberry doughnut for sweet treats. Your choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Add mulled wine for £2 or Prosecco for £5.

When: 2pm to 4pm

Menu: finger sandwiches with turkey and stuffing, salmon and cream cheese, and brie and cranberry. Cranberry, orange and cinnamon scones with cream and butter. Mince pies, Christmas fruit cake and stollen to follow. Served with a choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

Menu: sandwiches, home baked scones, cakes and fancies.
