Owning a holiday home can cost less than 50p per hour compared to a potential cost of £5.43 per hour for an overseas break according to new research by a leading figure in the holiday parks industry.

This is based on a study which has been conducted by Darwin Escapes who now operates over twenty holiday resorts across the country. This includes Canterbury Reach Lodge Retreat which was opened by the North Wales based company in the Kent region last April.

Darwin Escapes found that their average holiday home owner, assuming a ten year lifespan of a holiday home, stands to pay approximately 50 pence every hour for holidays. This is based on a family of four spending every holiday in their home away from home over this ten year period and also includes time spent there during occasional weekends across the open season of one of their 5 star holiday parks.

This compares to the £5.43 per hour which would be spent by the same family of four having a two week vacation in a 3 star Majorca hotel in the summer, a time where holiday operators traditionally inflate their prices to take advantage of the school holidays.

Darwin Escapes Marketing Manager Samantha Lambert commented that the study would be “welcomed by those who are considering investing in a holiday home, but are put off by the initial cost.”

The above figures have been calculated by splitting the initial purchase cost of the holiday home as well as the required annual site fees to cover the activities and maintenance of facilities which are offered to holiday home owners over a ten year period.

Darwin Escapes believes that the long running cost savings along with the low rate financial packages which are now available to help fund purchases helps explain why UK holiday home ownership is becoming an increasingly popular option with British residents.

And now, Darwin Escapes are giving one lucky winner the chance to experience their luxurious new Lodge Resort in Canterbury

Darwin Escapes is one of the fastest growing holiday resort operators in the UK, with a portfolio which now stretched to over 20 destinations in various locations across the nation.

In April last year, Kent became the latest region to have one of its holiday locations given the Darwin Escapes treatment when the company transformed the former camping and touring destination Canterbury Fields Holiday Park into one of the most luxurious lodge resorts that Kent has to offer.

Mimicking the look and feel of many of their other luxurious destinations, Canterbury Reach Lodge Retreat offers holiday makers the chance to enjoy unrivalled luxury in tranquil surroundings whilst staying in impeccable holiday lodges which are equipped with various home from home comforts and only the finest furnishings. They also feature modern and fully equipped kitchens to ensure you can cater for yourself if desired.

Your entertainment needs are also fully met inside the lodges thanks to the presence of top of the range big screen TVs and of course complimentary Wi-Fi will be provided to ensure you can show off to your friends back home the kind of luxury you are experiencing.
